DETAILS ABOUT  SOME ASSIGNMENTS

9 and 10.   Research project  –   This is a research project where you’ll use three different online subscription databases.  Dont use a Google search — You need to connect directly to the main database page http://mozart.radford.edu/dbfinder/dbfinder/ and then:

  • Open Web of Science and   pull the search terms menu to “Address”   Type in Radford University.  Then look for papers published by RU faculty.  Find one paper and summarize it in two paragraphs to prepare for an  interview with the faculty member.
  • Open Lexis / Nexis and go to News search.  Then open “advanced” and type “Radford University” (in quotes) into the search terms box.    Find stories about a person or event. Write 2-3 paragraphs on what you find.

11.  Auditor of public accounts –  Download the latest APA comparative report and compare the city of Radford with your home town in seven basic areas — spending on police, fire, schools, parks, roads and libraries.   Rewrite instructions:  Please be sure to use per capita comparisons and not just dollar figures, which will seem meaningless.
